One Year Ago This was my town ~Bridge City, TX (Thanks to IKE)

This was a Picture Of Texas Ave/Hwy87 (The main street thur town) after the Tidal Surge. Yes, that's Pizza Hut.
I live about 8 blocks from there.
The whole town was under water.
Thank God! No hurricanes this year have come near us.
I pray we will never see another like IKE!

Wow, that's crazy! I hope nothing like that ever happens again near you. I've never been subjected to anything like that and hope I never do.

My thoughts are with you and all affected by the flood! I live in a small town that borders Illinois, where there was massive flooding last year. We lost a very small town - I doubt they will rebuild, and a small one on the Iowa side. It's heartbreaking to see such destruction. The water was OVER the second story of many homes.

BRI HAVE FAITH! UNLESS, THEY LIVE SOMEWHERE THAT HAS FLOODED ALOT(IN WHICH THE GOV. WILL BUY THEM OUT)....MOST WILL REBUILD.

HERE IN BRIDGE CITY:
PEOPLE LIVED IN FEMA TRAILORS & EVEN SLEPT IN TENTS & THEIR CARS.
THEY GUTTED OUT THEIR HOMES. TRASHED & THROWED AWAY EVERYTHING THEY OWNED THAT WAS DAMAGE.
THE STREETS WERE LINED WITH ALL THIS TRASH AS FAR AS THE EYE COLD SEE(IN PILES SOMEOVER 12 FEET HIGH).
IT LOOKED LIKE A WAR ZONE.
I REMEMBER SIGNS~"YOU LOOT WE SHOOT" & "DON'T TAKE SAVING FOR INSURANCE".
SEE THE TRASH HAD TO BE LEFT UNTIL ADJUSTERS COULD GIVE A VALUE.

{I WILL TRY TO POST SOME MORE PICS"}.

A YEAR LATER, 70 % OF HOMES & STORES ARE REBUILT. PIZZA HUT NEVER REOPENED.

ALL MY FRIENDS & FAMILY LOST EVERYTHING.

ALL BUT 3% OF HOMES WERE DESTORYED.
THOSE STILL LIVABLE WERE MOBILE HOMES LIKE MINE.
I GOT WATER IN MY CRAWL SPACE & A CHUNK OF MY MASTER BEDROOM WALL RIPPED OFF & WATER POURED IN.

OVERALL, WE ARE STILL NUMB.
YET! IT IS TIMES LIKE THIS THAT WE GAIN A STRONGER FAITH IN GOD. WE REBUILD OUR LIVES & FIND AN INNER STRENGHT ..NOT KNOWING WE HAD.
THE LOVE & HELP RECIEVED FROM PEOPLE/GROUPS FROM CHRUCH ACROSS THE USA WAS SURLEY A BLESSING.
RED CROSS & OTHERS SUPLLIED HOT MEALS & SUPPLIES.
NOW, MOST OF BRIDGE CITY IS BRAND NEW & THRIVING!
WHILE MANY LOST EVERYTHING...IT WAS LIKE A BIG PURGE........NOW THEY HAVE BRAND NEW HOMES(REBUILT) & GOT TO REPLACE MOST THINGS.
THE SENTIMENTAL THINGS LOST IS THE ONLY WOUND LEFTED UNHEALED.

THIS TOWN HAD NEVER FLOODED LIKE THIS.

THE PORT ARTHUR SEAWALL ACTED LIKE A FUNNEL & THE TIDAL SURGE FROM THE GULF CAME UP THE SABINE RIVER. THE OTHER SIDE OF TOWN IS COW BAYOU(YEAH WITH GATORS)...THE HEAVY RAIN FROM THE STORM FOLLOWED IT.
BRIDGE CITY WAS LIKE A BOWL & BOTH SIDE OF WATER FILLED IT.
THE WHOLE TOWN WS UNDER WATER...I MEAN THE WHOLE TOWN.
THEY HAD BIG BOATS(BASS & SMALL SEA BOATS DOWN MAIN STREET) HWY 87/TEXAS AVE.
THE CHEMICALS FROM THE PLANTS(REFINERIES) MIX IN THE WATER TO MAKE A SICK SLUDGE.
REEDS FROM THE SALT WATER MARSH WAS PUSHED INLAND THUR THE WHOLE TOWN.
DEAD FISH & OTHER CRITTER STANK TO HIGH HEAVEN.
ALL THIS..AND THE PEOPLE PRAYED, GOT UP & REBUILT.

I SEE OTHER PARTS OF THE US(LIKE GEORGIA) HAVE SUFFERED GREATLY FROM FLOODING.

I PRAY THEY WILL FIND THE SAME COURAGE TO REBUILD THEIR LIVES.
